Yoga has become my lifeline, both as an educator and a cancer survivor. It gives me the physical strength and mental clarity needed to face each day in the classroom with energy and patience. After my treatments, finding a practice that could restore my strength was crucial. This new studio is my sanctuary, where I can breathe, stretch, and find peace amidst the chaos of life. The variety of classes means I can tailor my practice to exactly what I need on any given day. The supportive community here understands my journey, and that makes all the difference. Morning sessions set a positive tone for my day, and evening classes help me release the stress that builds up. Weekends give me the chance to deepen my practice and connect with others who share my passion. This studio is more than a place to practice yoga; it’s a crucial part of my healing and well-being.

I am a novice yoga instructor teaching part-time while pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing at Wichita State University. A few years ago, I began practicing yoga irregularly, but it has since become an integral part of my journey toward becoming a better version of myself. Yoga has been essential in regulating my mental health, helping me manage the stress and anxiety that I face daily. By clearing my mind and gradually relieving physical tension, yoga has significantly improved my mental well-being.
As a certified nursing assistant, my nursing career has been demanding and physically taxing. Yoga has been instrumental in releasing tension, restoring mobility, regaining energy, and alleviating work-related pain, thereby enhancing my physical health. Beyond these personal benefits, yoga has fostered my self-love, healing, and connection to a supportive community that transcends age and gender. Yoga truly is a vital part of my life and my journey to wellness.

I was introduced to yoga in the early 1980s by a friend who taught at the local YWCA. After earning my 200-hour RYT certification in 2004, I founded East Village Yoga in Georgetown and partnered with Federal Occupational Health to create a yoga-based fitness program for federal offices. My work focused on using yoga for therapeutic applications like PTSD, anxiety, and trauma.
Over the next 15 years, I expanded my expertise to over 50 countries, earning certifications in various healing modalities, including herbal and Chinese medicine. Recently, I added certifications in Yin yoga, mindfulness, and yoga philosophy. With over 30 years of experience, I now share my unique methods worldwide, teaching various yoga styles and leading workshops and retreats.
